NFL Draft 2017: First Round Picks

NFL Draft 2017 | usatoday.com ROUND 1 1. Cleveland Browns | DE Myles Garrett | Texas A&M  Quick Take: The Cleveland Browns take the best player in this draft class hoping to turn around the team's fate for the 2017 season. It is going to be a long road for the Browns, but Garrett could easily become the foundation for something great. Garrett is bringing a powerful edge to a much needed defense and he will be hunting Joe Flacco, Ben Roethlisberger and Andy Dalton in the AFC North. DE Myles Garrett | Houston Chronicle credit: Butch Dill 2. Chicago Bears (from San Francisco 49'ers) | QB Mitchell Trubisky | North Carolina Quick take: The Bears shocked the draft as they traded up to take Trubisky giving away two picks this year and a third-rounder for the 2018 draft. Some analysts did not think that this year QB class was rich enough to take one in the top 5, however it seems that the Bears were comfortable with what they saw in Trubisky who now will

Mayas Devastate Eagles to Conquer the Divisional Championship

Written by: Daniel Cortés Martínez Omar Cojolum (RB) breaking tackles | Credit: Ángel Santiago - FootballProMX FINAL: Eagles 18-40 Mayas This game was a story of two tales. In the first half it was a very close match as it was expected, neither team had a clear advantage in top of the other. But the second half was completely in the side of the Mayas whom put the pedal to the metal and never turn back again, displaying a powerful offense that destroyed the aspirations of an Eagles comeback. The Eagles started their attack rotating their three quarterbacks in the first series but without success, they abandoned quickly the strategy to stick with Raúl Mateos (No. 18) for the entire first half. Their first flirting with the end-zone came short after a 9-play series that ended with a missed Field Goal. As I stated in the preview for this game, the Eagles needed to take advantage of every opportunity that the Mayas gave them and score points, if not, they were going to dig i

Dinos Stun Raptors; Advance to Tazón México II

Written by: Daniel Cortés Martínez Dinos celebrating the victory | Credit: Ángel Santiago - FootballProMX FINAL: Dinos 13-10 Raptors The Dinos from Saltillo walked into this game being the underdogs. They only managed to win two games in the season and the Raptors were the clear favorites to advance to the final. Yet, the games in the regular season are a complete different story than the playoffs. Here, the record really does not matter that much and the teams step into the field to play for life or death. That was something that the Dinos got very clear and built up their game-plan exactly for that. It was the third time (two in a row) that these teams faced each other, so it was everything about intense film-studying and preparation. It was not an easy game for anybody given that the mistakes were the most consistent thing in the day. The Dinos opened the offensive series with a fumble that led to the first and only touchdown for the Raptors squad. After a couple of pen

Written by: Daniel Cortés Martínez Eagles vs Mayas | lfa.mx EAGLES vs MAYAS @ Palillo Stadium | Suerox Divisional Championship | Sunday, April 23th, 2017 | 15:00 p.m. The LFA's playoff second act is going to be starred by the powerful Mayas and the high-flying Eagles. These game will define the second and last honorary guest that will be playing for the Tazón México II (TMII) trophy. Both teams know each other very well as they have been building a strong divisional rivalry throughout the two seasons of the league. Back in February (week 1), the Eagles handed the first and only loss to the Mayas with a score of 33-21. However, the Mayas made the right adjustments to never be defeated again and closed the season as the favorites to repeat as champions. Their second meeting (week 5) was a truly epic match that was defined in the last seconds. The Mayas prevented a furious comeback by the Eagles and took away the victory in what was probably the best game of the 2017 seaso

The Raptors will host the Dinos to conclude a physically challenging trilogy that has been dominated by the "green fury". Their first meeting of the season came at week 2 in an impressive game ruled by an aerial circus and an astonishing Raptors comeback that stands as the greatest in the young league's history. That day the scoreboard finished 34-27 in a high scoring and exciting match that became an instant classic. The next time they faced-off (week 7), the Raptors took away the win again in a much more defensive game that ended with a score of 19-6. It was not easy for the Raptors to visit Saltillo and deal with such a demanding task as the Dinos. However, it was an opportunity fo

Eagles Flying High; Condors Tumble Down to Elimination

Imagen
Written by: Daniel Cortés Martínez Eagles vs Condors | FootballProMx Eagles 31-16 Condors The Eagles stole away the victory from the Condors and snatched their invitation to the LFA's playoff party. Founding their attack basically on an option offensive scheme and rotating constantly their QB's in the same series, the "Red Birds" discovered a successful formula to take down the Condors and advance to the conference championship against the mighty Mayas. As it was expected, this was a nasty battle between two teams that were playing for the right to continue alive in the next stage of the tournament. In the first action of the game, the Eagles muffed the kickoff and the Condors recovered by the 20 yard line mark deep into Eagles territory, just to set for a Field Goal three plays later. Then on, the Eagles showed their QB carousel in the first series rotating Joaquín Juárez (No. 16), Raúl Mateos (No. 18) and Ricardo Quintana (No. 5) trying to benefit from

They said goodbye with a 2-5 record that leave the northern mexican city unhappy about the results during the season. On their  travel to Mexico City, the Mayas showed why they are the best football team until now. They finished with a 1-6 record. Only losing against the Eagles in week 1. After that, all has been wins for the Mayas, and this afternoon was not the exception. Mayas started strong, in the  first drive, Marco García QB, N. 12, found Josué Martínez, N. 81, for a TD.  In the second quarter, the advantage increased with a 18-yards TD with a pass to Raul Ríos and, afterwards, Josué Martinez scored again. The game was 20-0 for the visitors. Part of the importance of this result was that Mayas showed a strong secondary defense, since they neutrailized the best Fundidores

In Under Armour Division, Fundidores and Dinos are looking to clinch a playoff birth  –  both teams need to win the game,  –  and in case Dinos win this match, they would face again Raptors from Mexico State in the semifinals, which will be hosted in Raptors house, since they are the N.1 seed in that division.
