Week 2, LFA predictions. Eagles Visiting Fundidores

One of the most interesting matchups in LFA, Mexican football league, week 2, will be the (1-0) Eagles visiting the (0-1) Fundidores at Tecnológico Stadium, in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon (northern Mexico,) on Sunday. What makes this matchup so stimulating? Here we go:
  • Fundidores started this season visiting the Dinos in Saltillo, Coahuila. They lost 33-16 against the Dinos. They did not have their dreamed debut, the coach and the players confirmed that. In the city, there was a great expectation about what former college players, from the best univerisities in the area, would do in professional football.  They also had some problems with their OL; at the same time, in many plays QB Roberto Vega threw under pressure. If the Fundidores do want to win, they must give more time to the QB.

  • Secondly, the Eagles come from Mexico City with a victory against the champions, Mayas, in a very closed game. However, they managed to look like a strong team in all the departments (offense, defense and special teams). They were able to stop the Mayas passing game by pressuring the QB, and neutralize the passing game. They also showed strong passing games with WR Billy Owens, and Marco Patrarca. Finally, their FG kicker, Jorge Leon (the lawyer kicker,) scored two FGs over 40 yards.


All in all, it is expected to see a developed offense from the Eagles side, and the Fundidores must find the way to stop it and give time to their QB to move the chains; have ball secutiry; and keep the possesion of the ball if they want to proof their local fanbase that they are a team worth of Monterrey, a city with strong football tradition.

Final Score Eagles win 30-23.

Raptors Get Back on Track After Beating Fundidores

This time, the show was in charge of the Raptors and the Monterrey Fundidores. The last time these teams met, the Fundidores won by one point and the Raptors were looking forward to take revenge in this match. The first productive series came from the Fundidores side commanded by N. 12, Roberto Vega, who marched down the field with poise and making connections with WR Luis de la Torre, N. 14,mixing well with short runs by Alberto Espinosa, N. 33. The Raptors defense looked lost and committed key penalties  –  offside and pass interference  –  that allowed the Fundidores to continue with the possession of the ball. Fundidores are Eliminated after Hosting Mayas in Last Week of LFA, Regular Season

Mayas 33-14 Fundidores Fundidores were eliminated in the last game for them in LFA Mexican football league, 2nd season. They said goodbye with a 2-5 record that leave the northern mexican city unhappy about the results during the season. On their  travel to Mexico City, the Mayas showed why they are the best football team until now. They finished with a 1-6 record. Only losing against the Eagles in week 1. After that, all has been wins for the Mayas, and this afternoon was not the exception. Mayas started strong, in the  first drive, Marco García QB, N. 12, found Josué Martínez, N. 81, for a TD.  In the second quarter, the advantage increased with a 18-yards TD with a pass to Raul Ríos and, afterwards, Josué Martinez scored again. The game was 20-0 for the visitors. Part of the importance of this result was that Mayas showed a strong secondary defense, since they neutrailized the best Fundidores
