Strong Kansas City offense or poor Patriots defense?

The 2017 NFL season just started yesterday. The first game Kansas City visiting the New England Patrios in Foxborough, Massachusetts. The patriots were expected to win by 9 points. But the Kansas City chiefs shocked the Patriots 42-27.

In the first half, the Patriots were leading 17-7 but after halftime the chiefs started a comeback. The stars in the Chiefs were Alex Smith who had 368 yards with 4 TD. And the Rookie RB out of Toledo, Kareem Hunt, besides he fumbled on his first carry in the game, he recovered and scored 3 Touchdowns.

In the other hand, the New England patriots had a good first half and established a strong offense running back Mike Gillislee had three touchdowns of his own, but the Patriots couldn't match the Chiefs' pace and fell at home to open the season. Tom Brady had 287 yards and no TD. The problem was not on the offense, it was in the defense, they allowed 42 points and coach Bill Bellichick admitted it after the game. "Bad defense, bad playing, bad football" he said.

Now the question would be if the Kansas City chiefs offense and the gameplan of HC Andy Reid was strong and good enough or it was just problems with all the players cut or gone from Patriots defense.

Luckily for the Patriots, they know how to adjust to those situations, in 2014 in arrowhead stadium, lost against the KC chiefs in a MNF 41-14. That year, they became super bowl champions.

Just time will tell...
